No clear date set for perfection

Nintendo has always been a company of great pronouncements and big expectations. The Wii was said to be a revolution and managed to change the way people game. Each new Mario title is set to forever change the way we look at the series. And the upcoming Nintendo Wii-based Zelda experience is set to be a perfect game, in the words of one of the leading men of the Japanese company.

Reggie Fils-Aime, who is the president of Nintendo of America, said, during the weekly Nintendo show, that the game “Right now, it's still in development. But the key message that Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Aonuma are telling us is that it really has to be perfect when it launches - that really is what the Zelda fan is expecting.”

Of course, no release date window has been mentioned, with Fils-Aime simply suggesting that fans should “enjoy Spirit Tracks, and know that the Zelda title for Wii is going to come out when it's perfect.”

Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo in Japan, previously stated that he hoped to see the Wii Zelda title coming out in 2010. But it was recently established that the press has a tendency to misquote him, as seen in the case with the inexistent motion tracking Nintendo DS successor. To every inquiry that asks for a release date for the new Zelda, Nintendo will probably just quote Fils-Aime and say that it will be out not when it's ready but when it's perfect.

The Legend of Zelda has been one of the most successful Nintendo franchises and fans have demanded to see new titles featuring Link as proof that the company is still dedicated to offering complex gameplay experiences for its long time supporters. The recent Spirit Tracks has left some of them hungry for a new Wii-based Zelda title.
