Nintendo released a helpful video detailing how to transfer system information from one device of its handheld family to another, in order to assist gamers with the transition to the new hardware.

The Japanese corporation is releasing the New 3DS handheld device in Europe and North America this Friday, on February 13, after having launched it to great success in Japan and Australasia at the end of 2014.

The new models feature a few changes from the originals, with the most visible addition being a brand new analog stick on the right side of the handheld, dubbed the C-Stick, alongside additional shoulder buttons, enabling some extra control options, similar to the ones in the Circle Pad Pro peripheral for the original 3DS.

In addition to this, the new systems feature a camera that tracks facial features and follows a player's line of sight, and widens the range of angles from which stereoscopic 3D effects can be enjoyed.

Most importantly, the devices ship with built-in support for the Amiibo NFC figures, enabling Nintendo fans to make use of them in their games.

The transfer process

The helpful video outlines the steps gamers have to take in order to transfer their precious data to the new systems, showing how to do it through a computer.

You'll need your current 2DS or 3DS system (along with its SD card), a New 3DS and a microSD card, such as the one that comes installed in the new device, a size 0 Phillips screwdriver, a computer and an adapter to connect the memory cards to the computer.

The video is pretty helpful and takes you to the process, but do remember not to create a new Nintendo Network ID on the New 3DS, as it will overwrite your old one.

If the process seems too complicated after watching the video, there is also the simpler and more convenient (but also far lenghtier) method of transferring the data through WiFi.

And if you're worried about your pre-installed games, Nintendo mentioned that they would be available for re-download on the new system once the data transfer is complete.
