Despite what rumors have been saying, it seems that Nintendo has no plans to use the Android operating system from Google for its upcoming NX hardware platform, but the company does not negate the fact that it might work with developers who are linked to the software.

Eurogamer quotes the company as saying that there is no truth to the information that was offered previously.

Nintendo is not yet willing to offer any clear details about the NX concept or about the kind of firmware that it will implement for it.

The link between the new hardware and Android was offered by an inside source to Japanese newspaper Nikkei.

Nintendo has always sought to make sure that the devices that it launches are based entirely on tech developed internally and use software that the company created specifically to satisfy its core needs.

However, the company has not denied that it will be working with other developers who use the Android OS in order to make sure that they can deliver content on mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets.

So far, no clear details have been offered on the end results of the collaboration between Nintendo and DeNA, which was revealed earlier in the year.

The NX will offer a new hardware ecosystem

No news on the capabilities or the philosophy that powers the new platform will be coming at E3 2015.

Nintendo has said that the NX will center on video games, with dedicated applications and content, but it will also try to appeal to a wider array of potential buyers.

The leadership seems to be regretting that it has mentioned the concept back in March, during an investor meeting, and wants to stay quiet about its characteristics for the rest of 2015, mainly in order to draw attention back to the Wii U and the 3DS.

When 2016 rolls around, Nintendo might explain what makes the NX different, and the actual launch of the new line might take place one year later.

Until then, the company will probably have to deal with some other rumors, and it will have to move fast to dispel untruths while also limiting the amount of info that it reveals.
