George Harrison believes that low quality products will seriously affect the Wii's image

In an attempt to improve the Wii's image as a serious gaming system and not a toy, as some may consider it to be, Nintendo of America's CEO has issued a call to all of the companies "producing quick cash-in products" for the Wii, according to NintendoLife.com. Harrison insists that low quality titles can only affect the console's image on the market:

"Certainly there's a strong line-up of third party titles, and we're trying to encourage them to make them," Harrison said. "But, we're also trying to encourage third parties to take the time and effort to make something unique, not just to sort of throw something out on Wii because the Wii's the fast-selling system."

Sure enough, as you can even Nintendo's officials admit that uninspired content sometimes heads the Wii's way and although Nintendo simply loves the way the Wii has evolved, Harrison clearly suggests it is also a serious system, aside the fun and sometimes casual-game tool some people often consider it to be (myself included). Harrison closed his call to developers adding the following: "I think the ones that have spent the most time in the box are the ones that are going to be the most successful this holiday."

Harrison spared one more minute to assure everyone that Nintendo is doing everything in its power to meet demand this holiday season (following an earlier statement of Reggie Fils-Aime that revealed a more negative prognosis):

"We're at a rate now worldwide of about 1.8 million Wiis produced every month, and that's going to sustain itself until we get on top of this. We're trying to make decisions on almost a weekly basis about which market to ship the product to, because in Japan it's a big success, and same in Europe."

Guess it's not Nintendo we have to criticize whenever a quick cash-in title hits the Wii huh? But rather than digging around to find out who was responsible whenever an uninspired product hit the platform, it was much easier to do just that, you have to admit.
