Nintendo has gone on record to dismiss rumors that highly anticipated adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will no longer appear on the GameCube.

Nintendo UK's PR Manager said: "Nintendo has always said that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will appear on Nintendo GameCube and this is still very much the case."

When Nintendo issued a statement in August, announcing that Twilight Princess had slipped to 2006, many anticipated a first-quarter release. But when the game didn't appear on Nintendo's Q1 release list announced late last week, rumors began to spread that the game would launch on the next-generation Revolution console.

The game was originally due out for this Christmas, but a delay until 2006 was announced in August. Nintendo said the extra development time was needed "to add some incredible new elements" to the game.
