Owners of Android and iOS smartphones will soon be able to enjoy the features of a new appealing game on their devices, as Ninja Theory Ltd. has partnered with Chillingo for the release of Fightback on both platforms.

This is the first mobile game from the studio, a free-to-play action title that promises a striking 80s action movie vibe, as well as an innovative touch-based combat system.

“Mobile and tablet gaming is a phenomenon that we just couldn’t ignore as a studio and we’re very proud to be working with one of the industry’s heavy-weights on bringing Fightback to market,” Dominic Matthews, product manager, Ninja Theory Ltd., said.

“Ninja Theory has always strived for the highest production values and that absolutely remains the case in this exciting new space.”

The new mobile game is expected to become available for both mobile operating systems later this summer, the two companies also announced.

Furthermore, they unveiled that hands-on previews of the mobile game are set to be shared with press at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles next month.

“Chillingo is very excited to collaborate with such a talented, critically-acclaimed studio to help shape their first title for the mobile market,” stated Ed Rumley, COO, Chillingo, the independent mobile games publisher and division of Electronic Arts Inc.

“Our team is working closely with Ninja Theory to ensure Fightback delivers a phenomenal experience for mobile and tablet devices.”

As polygon notes in a recent post, the available screenshot with Fightback shows that the game might arrive on devices with time-limited levels, providing users with the possibility to rack up high scores in an attempt to attain different levels of completion.

No specific release date for the mobile game has been provided as of now, but Chillingo and Ninja Theory promise additional details in the coming months, so stay tuned to learn the news.
