China Techfaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited, an ODP developer of mobile phone solutions, and aigo, a leading provider of consumer digital products in China, announced today the release of nine new mobile phones designed to work on the newly rolled-out third-generation (3G) network in the country.

The nine new handsets announced by the two will be added to three different product lines, including dual mode GSM phones, modem card phones and DVDO devices. There are five dual mode GSM handsets, three of which are WCDMA plus GSM phones developed for the New China Unicom subscribers, while two are CDMA plus GSM aimed at China Telecom CDMA subscribers.

The companies will unveil two modem card handsets, one of which is said to use an HSDPA modem card, while the other one an EVDO modem card. The last two models to be unveiled come with GPS functionality and include CDMA1X and EVDO. The nine models come with CDMA1X, WCDMA, GSM and EVDO technologies and are meant to fulfill the subscriber demand of the different Chinese mobile phone carriers.
