Since its launch in September 2012, many customers have been complaining to Nikon about D600's oil/dust issues encountered in many camera bodies.
Although some of the cameras were fixed after Nikon replaced the shutter mechanism, many customers who sent their D600 DSLR to Nikon for a solution to this issue reported that they still experienced oil and dust problems after shooting a few hundred photos.
According to NikonRumors, several European D600 users said that Nikon had replaced their D600 camera with a new D610 model at no additional cost or by charging a small fee for the replacement.
Moreover, a few US customers also got their D600 camera body replaced with a new D610, but so far we can't tell how Nikon determines which bodies are replaced with a D610 and which get a new shutter mechanism.
