Isobar interactive agency Molecular, Inc. has announced a partnership with Nikon Inc., the multinational corporation specializing in optics and imaging, to create an iPhone app containing educational and inspirational photo information. Dubbed “Nikon Learn & Explore,” the free iPhone app is now available on the iTunes App Store.

“Increasingly, people are using their iPhones to explore everything and anything they might need ‘in the moment,’ from GPS directions to nearby restaurant recommendations,” Bryant Shea, Molecular's director, Content Management and Mobilem, said. “Recognizing that photography is a very ‘in-the-moment’ activity, the Learn & Explore app creates another opportunity for Nikon to engage with consumers, providing people with immediate access to Nikon's education resources right in the palm of their hand, no matter where they are.”

“We are excited to introduce the Learn & Explore app to the iPhone community,” Joe Ventura, senior manager of Corporate and Internet Communications at Nikon Inc., added. “Working with Molecular, we've created a mobile experience that allows us to provide our consumers with greater access to educational and editorial digital content; which ultimately supports our goal to let people explore photography on their own terms.”

The Learn & Explore app allows iPhone users to read and bookmark informative articles from the nikonusa.com website, as well as articles from the “Nikon World” magazine. According to the official report, the program has been designed for photo enthusiasts of all skill levels. Assets such as images, video lectures, slideshows, and audio commentaries are also accessible for iPhone users. The content is managed through Nikon's TeamSite Content Management System, while updating is done on a regular basis.

The key features listed by Nikon Inc. (App Store description) include:

• Images and Video: Scroll through galleries of images and view videos that both educate and inspire. • Insights & Techniques: Learn the fundamentals of photography and get advice on shooting techniques that will help you improve your skills and take better pictures. • Nikon World: Nikon’s quarterly print magazine is available complete with stunning images and audio slideshows from some of the top professional photographers working today. • Photography Glossary: An easy way to find a definition for the photographic terms you’re interested in. • Favorites: Store and retrieve your favorite images and articles for fast and easy access.
