Nikon has issued a new notice on its support page regarding the EN-EL14 and EN-EL14a battery compatibility with some Nikon DSLR and compact camera models.

With the D3100, D3200, D5100, and D5200 firmware update outed in November, Nikon improved the life of the EN-EL14a battery by up to 20 percent but, at the same time, the company also removed third-party battery support for the aforementioned camera models.

The new notice informs Nikon camera owners that, in order to get the best performance when using the EN-EL14a battery, they should update the D5200, D3200, D5100, D3100, and Coolpix P7700 camera firmware to the latest version available.

The latest DSLR cameras released by the Nippon manufacturer (Df, D5300, and D3300) already come with an EN-EL14a battery included in the package, so you won't need to purchase an extra battery to take advantage of the extended battery life that comes with this model.
