Nikon has recently announced its latest DSLR, the Nikon Df, a retro-styled camera body that incorporates the latest technologies from the Nippon manufacturer.

The camera has received both positive and negative feedback from Nikon fans – negative mostly for its high price, as well as for the fact that it doesn't have any movie capturing capabilities.

In the UK, the Nikon Df kit with the new 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition lens is priced at £2,749.99 / $4,405 including 20% VAT, while in the US the same kit costs around $2,999.95 / £1,872 before sale tax.

When asked by Amateur Photographer about this incredible price difference, John Walshe, Nikon UK's general manager, said that “Many factors influence the final price of products in the UK - this includes but is not limited to tax, tariff, exchange rates and logistics.” He then added, “It is important to note that Nikon RRPs are non-binding guidelines, and market dynamics will determine the actual price set by retailers.”

What do you think is the real reason behind this enormous price difference between the UK and the US? Let me know by posting a comment below.
