As I told you in the past, Nikon is gearing up to release a successor for the D800 camera, which has been dubbed the D800s by the rumor mill.

Previous info already placed the launch of the new camera towards the end of June, but now I can give you the exact date you should be marking in your calendar.

According to Nikon Rumors, the D800s will arrive as soon as June 26. The device will come with a 36MP sensor with Expeed 4 imaging processor and no anti-aliasing filter.

The imaging sensor bundled within the upcoming camera appears to be the same found in the D800E, but rumor has it Nikon will up things a little in the software department.

Other improvements include a lighter frame, enhanced video shooting, low-light performance, 5fps frame rate, higher resolution LCD, and built-in GPS.

Furthermore, the upcoming DSLR will most likely take advantage of the D4’s improved AF system, so it will be the second camera from Nikon to be able to shoot sRaw format.

As far as pricing goes, the Nikon D800s should arrive on the market with a hefty price tag revolving around $3,286 / €2,403. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether all this info turns out to be true.
