14 DAY TRIAL // As reported earlier today, a new set of photos showing Charles Saatchi manhandling his wife of over 10 years, beloved celebrity chef Nigella Lawson, emerged online. He’s already supplied the media with an explanation.
The photos, made public by the Daily Mail, show Saatchi twisting his wife’s nose in a very painful way and even sticking a thumb up one of her nostrils.
The photographer who took them (but also the set that emerged a few days ago, of Saatchi choking Nigella) told the media that the whole abusive episode lasted about 27 minutes and was painful to watch.
Saatchi has already dismissed claims that he choked his wife, saying what the photographer caught on camera was a “playful tiff.”
He’s now saying that he was simply helping Nigella wipe her nose at the time the second set of the pics was taken, Evening Standard reports.
“Even domestic goddesses sometimes have a bit of snot in their nose. I was trying to fish it out,” he says.
Meanwhile, reports cited by the same media outlet note that Nigella is actually considering moving to the US for a while to get away from her husband, after admittedly enduring years’ worth of abuse of all kinds.
She will also work while there. She hopes that putting some distance between herself and Saatchi will be the solution, while also offering her the privacy she needs now and feels can’t get back home.
After photos of the choking episode emerged online, Nigella moved out of the house she’d shared with her husband. Ironically, they came out one week after the incident, which could indicate that she’s really doing just damage control because she’s determined to stick by her man no matter what.
As noted earlier today, word has it that Nigella is waiting for the scandal to blow over before returning to her husband.
