Director Olivier Dahan is at war with Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company

Just two months before it was supposed to hit theaters after already being pushed back 5 months, “Grace of Monaco,” the much anticipated production starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, has been shelved once more, this time indefinitely.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the film, scheduled for release first in November and then in March, will not arrive in theaters as scheduled because of an ongoing conflict between French director Olivier Dahan and Harvey Weinstein of distributor The Weinstein Company.

Even though Weinstein has no creative control over the film, he’s proposing an edit that has nothing to do with Dahan’s artistic vision. Because they can’t reach a common ground, fans hoping to see the film have to wait some more.

“It's right to struggle, but when you confront an American distributor like Weinstein, not to name names, there is not much you can do. There are two versions of the film for now: mine and his… which I find catastrophic,” Dahan says.

“Grace of Monaco” will still open the Cannes Film Festival this year, so maybe something will change then.
