14 DAY TRIAL // Katie Holmes made sure Tom Cruise had no idea she was about to file for divorce, by using disposable cell phones to talk to her attorneys. She used a similar device to get in touch with Tom's ex Nicole Kidman, says a new report.
The latest issue of Us Weekly boasts of offering plenty of insight into the most talked about celebrity split of recent years, including how Katie forged and maintained an unlikely alliance with Nicole.
Admittedly, the Australian stunner helped Katie in her decision to divorce Tom by offering her plenty of “support” when she asked for it.
“Katie Holmes has friends in high places – and that includes Nicole Kidman. As Holmes, 33, struggled and secretly plotted to end her marriage to Tom Cruise, she found a pillar of support in her husband’s second ex-wife, who divorced the actor in 2001,” Us writes.
“They’ve spoken over the last few weeks. Nicole has been supportive, saying she’s been through it too and to hang in there,” an insider is quoted as saying.
One way the two got in touch must have been through the disposable cell phone, because Katie must have taken extra caution Tom had no idea about it, the celebrity publication speculates.
According to the spy, there was more to the friendship Tom ignored completely: like how the two had been in contact since the day he married Holmes in 2006 in an Italian castle.
“She has been a private friend not many people know about. Nicole offered her support and help,” the source explains.
A short while ago, reports started making the rounds that Nicole had also reached out to Kelly Preston, wife of John Travolta, yet another high profile Scientologist, who's now faced with damaging accusations from several male masseurs.
Sources told the tabs that Kidman “urged” Kelly to leave John and join her and her family while she considered her next step because she needed to be as far away from Scientology as possible.
At the time, a rep for Kidman denied the rumors were true that she was interfering in the Travolta – Preston marriage.
