Amanda Bynes is currently on an extended psychiatric hold after she started a fire in a driveway, burned her pants and nearly her dog as well. While her parents are still trying to convince a judge to grant them temporary conservatorship, Nick Cannon is extending a helping hand – on the Internet.

The America’s Got Talent host penned an open letter / essay for Amanda Bynes, in which he reaches out both to her and the public at home, watching her spiral out of control and probably enjoying every moment of it.

He calls Amanda “family” and goes to great lengths to explain why it can be so hard for someone in the public eye. At the same time, he admits that being a celebrity is the easiest, most fun job in the world, but it can also prove dangerous if you don’t have the proper support.

“I tweeted a few weeks about how the entertainment industry just consumes people and spits them out like flavorless bubblegum. A few chews of enjoyment then they’re under a city bus bench. Don’t get me wrong this is not a pity for the popular statement,” Nick writes.

“I am always the first to say that fame and entertainment is one of the best and easiest occupations to ever have, but one must know how to navigate through the matrix or you may find yourself in a very dark hole,” he adds.

He goes on to say that, for someone who never heard “no” from anyone and who was the breadwinner of the family “before you can even drive,” slipping down the slope into the “black hole” doesn’t take much.

This is where Amanda is right now, Nick explains. More than anything, she needs help and support, and she needs to not be judged anymore.

“So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you’re not alone. I’m here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that’s what family does and that’s what family is for. I also extend this to anyone else in my life, past or present that may find themselves in hard times. I’m here! Call me!” Nick says.

“Because I truly believe, the hand you’re helping up today may be the one you’re reaching for tomorrow. So not to be all cheesy and over sentimental but I got to end this with the ingenious Wither’s lyrics "Lean on me when you’re not strong and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on. For it won’t be long until I’ll need somebody to lean on,” he concludes his message by saying.
