Nick Cannon puts out song for unborn son and daughter, a collaboration with Sade

While Mariah Carey has been at home, taking care of herself in preparation for the birth of the twins, Nick Cannon has been writing them an open letter, in the form of a rap song, built around Sade’s heart wrenching ballad “Pearls.”

The song was posted by Nick himself on his official website – and has since gone viral, with many a publication noting that the tribute is as surprising as it’s touching.

Granted, there are also those who say they would have expected Nick to pick a song from Mariah’s huge catalog, but they admit the collaboration with Sade is probably just as great.

“Gotta spit these Pearls to my unborns/ Poems ‘til they get into this world,” Nick begins his rap, explaining the need he felt in writing the song.

The twins must know even before they’re born that they will be treated differently from other kids, mostly because of who their parents are.

They will also be held to different standards than other children because they’re born to celebrity parents, so they might as well be prepared for it, Nick says.

But that shouldn’t stop them from trying to make something with their life, from trying to use their status to change the world for the better.

“Show ‘em how to fit into this world/ Knowing unless you’re gonna make a difference you ain’t [expletive] in this world. ‘Scuse my language/ Dang, guess I’m just anxious, man, to take away the suffering pain, hatred and anguish/ This place is dangerous,” Nick raps.

“Don’t be too religious/ that’s just a business,” he says, apologizing for speaking out his mind.

“They gonna hate on your skin tone, hate your income, hate your homes and even hate on your moms / Hate on me for even making this song/ But you are not alone,” Cannon tells his unborn son and daughter.

“Your mother’s one of the greats and when I meet you in person, I’m gonna say this to your face: My Daughter, be careful, but my son, go harder,” Nick adds, before toasting for them.

Mariah Carey is expected to give birth “any day now.” Until the twins arrive, check out their father’s tribute below. Enjoy.
