He’s been bragging too much about his past love life, reports were saying

When Mariah Carey first stepped publicly on Nick Cannon’s arm, most people laughed and assumed they’d break up in a matter of weeks. They have been married for 6 whole years now and, according to Nick himself, they’re still as happy as ever.

That is to say, despite what else you might read online or in the newspapers, they’re not fighting and Mariah did not threaten Nick she’d leave if he continued bragging about his love life from before.

You might recall that, just recently, as he was promoting his new album, Nick talked extensively about his track record with fellow celebrities, which ones he bedded and which ones he didn’t, even including Kim Kardashian in the mix.

Since then, rumors have persisted, claiming that Mariah put Nick in the doghouse for saying these things, telling him she might even do worse if he continued to cross her. She threatened him with divorce, in short.

That was never the case, Nick tells Parade magazine. This kind of rumors come with the territory (the territory being here the fact that he’s married to one of the greatest singers on the planet) and he’s learned to pay them no mind.

“You kind of have to ignore it because every week it’s something different, and if you paid attention to it, it actually probably would start really affecting you. It’s kind of humorous, really. It couldn’t be further off from the truth, and it really affects the credibility of the so-called newspapers,” Nick says.

If you know anything about him and Mariah, you know that he usually takes this stance where rumors and even celebrity feuds in which she is involved are concerned. Nick knows that being this famous has its downsides, and this is one of it – and he’s made a conscious choice not to let that ruin his otherwise perfect life.

And perfect it is, he continues. Further refuting reports that things between himself and the diva are so bad that they have even stopped celebrating their wedding anniversary (which is usually a very fancy affair with them), Nick says that they have recently decided to dedicate the day to their children, Monroe and Moroccan, or Dem Babies as Mariah calls them.

“We definitely had a good time. The first part of the day, we threw a birthday for them and their friends at their school, and then after that, once we tired all the kids out, we had a nice romantic rooftop evening and kind of re-enacted some of our wedding and engagement rituals that we do every year. It was low-key. I mean the year before, we kind of went over the top with Disneyland, so we kind of wanted to reel it in this year,” Nick explains.
