Nexus S by Samsung, the first mobile phone to land on the market with Google’s new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, is set to make an appearance on the US market with a price tag of $529 attached to it, Best Buy announced officially today. The new handset would be sold on the US market exclusively via this retailer, which should make the “world’s most advanced Android smart phone” available for purchase starting with December 16th.

Users interested in the acquisition of this device would have the opportunity to purchase it either with a two-year contract agreement with wireless carrier T-Mobile, while having to pay $199 for the device, or without a service plan, with the phone priced at $529.

“We have invested a lot of time and resources to ensure people get the smart phone and support that’s right for them, and we expect to see significant consumer excitement focused on Nexus S,” said Mike Vitelli, president of the Americas for Best Buy.

“This is a groundbreaking mobile device that you have to see to believe, and that’s exactly what people can do at every Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile location. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Google and Samsung to launch this phone in time for the holidays.”

Nexus S comes to the market as the first handset to include a 4” Contour Display, a unique screen that makes it easy to use. Not to mention that it would also come with a powerful 1GHz application processor, which should offer great performance when paired with the new Android 2.3 platform.

”We’re thrilled to launch Nexus S with Gingerbread, and we’re also excited to be partnering with Best Buy to launch this device,” said Andy Rubin, Vice President of Engineering at Google.

Packing inside great connectivity options, the new smartphone should also offer better Internet browsing features to its users, with support for Flash and HTML5 technology.

Nexus S packs Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, so that it can be used for reading NFC tags, as well as front and rear facing cameras, and 16GB of internal memory.
