Korean customers who are anxious to purchase the Samsung Nexus S smartphone won't have to wait any longer. Major carrier SK Telecom has recently announced that the device will be available in February.

According to the Chosun Ilbo, the Nexus S is in the final stages of testing and will be retailed through SK Telecom next month, even though its Nexus One predecessor is still one of the best-selling Android smartphones in Korea.

The most popular models running Android in SK Telecom’s portfolio include the Galaxy S from Samsung, the Vega from Pantech and the Desire from HTC.

One of the few countries in the world where Android is the leading mobile platform, Korea is getting the Nexus S almost three months after its official launch.

Samsung Nexus S is the first device ever to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it is powered by a single ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor.

Even though the manufacturer has tagged the Nexus S as the world's first device to feature a curved Super AMOLED screen, tests have proven that only the protective glass of the display has a curved shape.

Apparently, the smartphone's features are expected to be the same, with the exception of some of the software bundled, which will probably include some carrier-branded apps.

The Nexus S features a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Other interesting features of the screen include: oleophobic surface, curved glass screen, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and three-axis gyro sensor.

The device sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, video recording capabilities (WVGA@30fps), as well as secondary VGA camera.

Among the most advanced features, there are: NFC technology, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, DLNA function and GPS with A-GPS support.

There's no information about the phone's release date at SK Telecom or price tag, yet.
