Users report weak or no signal at all, other problems as well

Just before the end of last week, Google started to push out the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system to Nexus S users, but it seems that various issues that emerged with the software determined the company to put its deployment on hold.

Many users have reported issues with their Nexus S devices following the update, and it seems that Google decided to have a look into the matter, and that the update will be delayed in some markets, due to these problems.

One of the issues that many users reported was the fact that the installation of Android 4.0 would not start after the download was completed.

Apparently, this is not an issue per se, but rather the consequence of Google pulling the plug on the update for some of its Nexus S users.

“If you received an update notification a little while ago but the update isn’t currently available for your phone, this is likely the result of Google pausing the update in your area while we monitor feedback,” Google’s Community Manager Paul Wilcox explains.

“The Android 4.0 update is continuing to roll out around the world so your phone will receive another update notification when it’s available again in your region.”

Those who are keen on waiting for Google to send the update OTA to them can’t do much on this at the moment, while others can always go for a manual update. Here’s a guide to what they need to do to manually install Ice Cream Sandwich on Nexus S.

We should also note that our readers report a series of other problems as well for their Nexus S devices updated to Android 4.0, such as the lack of signal following the installation.

Others say that the update went just fine, so it clearly has something to do with device numbers, maybe even with the software that was previously installed on the device.

One way or the other, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Nexus S do not seem to get along very well at the moment, and Google clearly has to do something to resolve the issue.

Hopefully, the company will find the issue in the near future and will come up with a solution to resolve it soon, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
