There is no information whether the stock will be replenished or not

Just before the Google I/O last month, the rumor mill went a little bit nutty prophesying that the advent of the Nexus 8 tablet was surely imminent. But we all know what the outcome was – the Nexus 8 didn't appear and we all went on with our lives like it never happened.

Well, we had to, there was no choice involved. But what’s strange is that, after Google I/O, the rumor mill went silent about the Nexus 8, like the device never quite existed in the collective consciousness.

However, news coming from the British territory spurs up the hopes of the Nexus 8 making an appearance this summer.

In the UK Google Play Store, the Nexus 7 is now “out of inventory.” What the notice fails to add is details about when the stock will be replenished and the tablet will be up for grabs again.

However, we should note that we’re talking about the Wi-Fi model of the Nexus 7 (2013). Those who wish to pick up the LTE version can still do so.

Anyway, the Nexus 7 is over a year old and it’s quite unlikely that the tablet has returned into the graces of shoppers by a magic twist of fate. Hence, it seems quite sensible to assume that Google might be making room in the Google Play store for something big, like the Nexus 8.

For those of you who have just heard of the Nexus 8 tablet, you should know that Google has been rumored to be prepping the device for quite some time.

The general consensus is that the search giant has partnered up with HTC to complete this task, but until the tablet makes an entry into the real life, we can’t be 100% sure who the manufacturer is.

The tablet has been dubbed “Volantis” and should arrive with some impressive specifications.

For starters, it should come boasting an 8.9-inch screen with 2K resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels), but most importantly, it should benefit from the computing power of a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and backed up by 32GB of internal storage.

On the other hand, there has been talk that Google is not yet ready to truly abandon the 7-inch factor and a third Nexus 7 might still be a possibility. So could it be that Google is making room in the Google Play Store for not one, but two devices?

At this point, there’s little else to do but wait, so that’s what we’re going to do until Google finally decides to shed some light on the matter.
