Google introduced the Motorola Nexus 6 last week and announced that customers would be able to pre-order its flagship smartphone beginning late October.

Although the handset was listed on Google Play Store for several days, there was no pre-order date until today. Those who are anxious to place their pre-orders for the Nexus 6 will be pleased to know they will be able to do so beginning October 29.

That’s exactly one day from the Motorola DROID Turbo’s official unveil at Verizon Wireless, which is scheduled for October 28.

As expected, Nexus 6 (32GB) will be available for purchase for $649 (€505) outright, while the 64GB model will sell for $699 (€545). The smartphone is expected to arrive in two color options: Midnight Blue and Cloud White.

Unfortunately, Google hasn’t confirmed yet when exactly the pre-orders will start shipping, though sources close to the matter claim Nexus 6 should be launched on the market in early November.

Nexus 6 will be available for purchase in the United States through all major carriers, including T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular.

We are still waiting for Google to announce the availability of the Nexus 6 in Europe as well, but for the time being it looks like this is just a USA affair.

As soon as Nexus 6 starts shipping, Google is expected to start pushing the new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system to Nexus 4 and 5 smartphone. The latter should be the first to receive it, but Nexus 4 should follow soon as well.

Just like the previous models, Nexus 6 lacks microSD card slot

Obviously, the Nexus 6 will be the first smartphone to ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop platform onboard. It will also be the first in the Nexus family to boast a stunning 6-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display.

Moving on to hardware, the Nexus 6 will be equipped with a powerful 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, an Adreno 420 graphics processing unit and no less than 3GB of RAM.

As mentioned earlier, it comes with either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, but it lacks microSD card slot, which was to be expected from a Nexus smartphone.

Another major feature would be the 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features dual-LED flash, autofocus and 4K video recording. In the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Google has also confirmed the Nexus 6 will be powered by a 3220 mAh battery, which should provide up to 24 hours of continuous usage. It’s also worth mentioning that Motorola Nexus 6 supports wireless charging and it should be water resistant.
