Google already released Android 5.1 Lollipop update last week, but only three Nexus devices have received the update at that time: Nexus 5, 7 and 10.

Along with the OTA (over the air) update, Google also released the factory images for Android 5.1 Lollipop for these particular smartphones.

Nexus 6, on the other hand, has been getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop update in stages, so not everyone has it yet. The good news is Google has just released the Android 5.1 Lollipop factory image for Nexus 6 as well.

There are two factory images available for Nexus 6 smartphone, so depending on which model you own, you might want to download one or the other. So the new Android 5.1 Lollipop factory images are for Nexus 6 LMY47D or LMY47E.

Both factory images are now available for download via Google's developers website, so head over there and download Android 5.1 Lollipop for Nexus 6.

Here is how to flash the new Nexus 6 factory images

In case you haven't gotten the Android 5.1 Lollipop on your Nexus 6 yet, you can flash the factory image if you know how to do it.

If you don't, then here is a short quick guide which will provide you with enough information on how to flash a factory image on a Nexus device.

Obviously, the first thing you need to do is to download the correct system image for your Nexus 6 smartphone from Google's developers website.

Then, unzip it to a separate directory and connect your device to your computer via USB. Start the device in fastboot mode, and if it's necessary, unlock the device's bootloader.

Afterwards, simply open a terminal and navigate to the unzipped system image directory and execute the flash-all script, which installs the necessary bootloader, baseband firmware, and operating system.
