An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreement with NextIO was made by Texas memory Systems. Both partners are powerful presences in their respective domains: Texas memory Systems builds high-quality solid-state drives and NextIO is a leading developer of next-generation I/O virtualization technologies. The main goal of the two is to combine the easily manageable I/O resources of NextIO's ICA-2800 Chassis with the RamSam PCIe Flash developed by the Texan enterprise.

"Texas Memory Systems developed its PCIe products with a focus on easy integration, high performance and enterprise reliability for hardware and application OEMs," Woody Hutsell said. "We were very impressed at how thorough NextIO was in assessing our product for reliability and durability, as well as the efficiency of our PCIe implementation. They made it clear that leading performance needed to be matched by solid engineering and uncompromising reliability."

Set to be demonstrated at Super Computing 2009 in Portland, Oregon, this combination will supposedly become a storage solution capable of an increased performance when used in the accelerated applications and databases handled by High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and data centers. The merger of the technologies will be possible thanks to the PCIe's on-board management and simple drivers, which will easily integrate into the NextIO ICA-2800. This means that application-accelerating operations will be done through a localized PCIe solution instead of large SAN infrastructures, allowing the chassis administrators to improve their servers' productivity.

From November 16th through 19th, NextIO will use eight or more TSM RamSan-10 PCIe SSD cards to demonstrate the capabilities attainable by a single storage appliance. The cards will run at 12.M IOPS (I/O operations) or greater. At the same time, TMS will also be showcasing its own model, this one using no less than ten RamSan-10 and RamSan-20 PCIe Flash cards in an ICA-2800 Chassis. This configuration will supposedly be able to boast a sustained performance at over 1.2 million IOPS from a rack space of 3U (in a complete rack deployment, performance density can reach as much as 15 million IOPS).

"Through our partnership with Texas Memory Systems, we are better able to optimize the performance and needs of Enterprise and HPC environments," DaWane Wanek, vice president of worldwide sales at NextIO, added. "Our partnership will allow customers to experience rapid application response and uncompromising reliability while leveraging the convenience and efficiency of PCIe attachment. As NextIO established an initiative to deliver increased high performance storage, the decision to partner with Texas Memory Systems was an easy one. Texas Memory Systems has a long history of performance leadership, unique engineering depth, and ability to deliver the levels of reliability that are critical to success in the Enterprise arena."

At Super Computing 2009 in Portland, Oregon, NextIO will be stationed at booth 2585, whereas TMS will be found at booth number 1035, each with their respective systems on display.
