Rockstar Games confirms that Grand Theft Auto 5 players across all platforms will be on the receiving end of a big content update designed for the GTA Online multiplayer mode, which brings new cars and other toys to buy, not to mention fresh missions.

GTA 5 launched across a myriad of platforms in recent years, making its first debut on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, then on the PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, and finally on the PC last month.

In the meantime, Rockstar Games has released a wide variety of free updates for the game's GTA Online multiplayer mode, adding plenty of missions, vehicles, weapons, and other items, not to mention the long awaited online heists that went live in March.

Since then, the stream of updates has stopped, primarily because Rockstar focused on the PC release of GTA 5, and on the special updates it's released for that platform, in order to eliminate technical problems.

More content is coming for GTA Online

However, this doesn't meant that the studio has abandoned the online mode. Quite the opposite, as Rockstar mentions on its website that more "toys" are coming for players to spend their virtual money on. As a special tease, the studio also added a screenshot depicting a new car and a customized pistol, which you can see above.

What's more, for those who've gotten tired of regular missions or the new online heists, the developer promises that more cool activities are coming, although no online heists just yet, as they require a lot of work.

"We are also working on another update coming soon that will feature some very cool new toys for you to enjoy and flaunt with your ill-gotten gains. For those asking for more Heists, please understand that Grand Theft Auto Online Heists were a tremendous undertaking so it’s not the sort of thing where we can easily create and publish additional Heists like other Job modes and missions. We are, however, working on other cool updates for GTA Online that you can expect over the coming months," the studio explains.

Unfortunately, it's unclear when the new updates will appear for GTA 5 so expect to hear more in the future.
