Arxan, a company that provides software solutions that ensure applications are not tampered with, has recently joined the Federation Against Software Theft and by doing so it became the proud member of one of the first organizations in the world to fight against online piracy. The main goal of the Federation is to protect software intellectual property.

Mike Dager, President and CEO of Arxan comments: "At our recent launch in London it became highly apparent that there is a real demand for a new generation of application hardening technologies to make software tamper-resistant so organizations can manage risk, maximize profitability and regain control of their software. Our commitment to the market is clear and with this agreement in place, Arxan believes it can offer the UK software sector a unique solution to anti-tampering that not only complements the work the Federation is already doing, but will support it."

According to Arxan, this is the perfect time to target the European market since there are so many copyright infringement and online piracy issues. Arxan's team is dedicated to detecting software products that have been cracked, and then finding out how fast they spread, for example by means of P2P networks.

There are several types of online pirates that the two organizations want to confront: individuals that professionally counterfeit copyrighted software, hardware dealers that promote their products by loading copyrighted material on them, people that illegally share copyrighted material, and so on.

The main software solutions that Arxan will be providing to the Federation are its Yellow Team Service as well as GuardIT.

Mike Dager again: "Since software developers are focused on delivering to release schedules, they sometimes lack the dedicated resources or time to efficiently research the source and extent of their software risk. Arxan's YTS allows these companies to leverage pre-packaged groundwork and proceed with relevant caution with regards to their software strategy."

Organizations similar to the Federation are the Software Property-right Council from Korea, the Association of Copyright for Computer Software from Japan, the Software & Information Industry Association from the US, and the Business Software Alliance which is also from the US of A.
