Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, has just got a taste of enhancements meant to make the user search experience better and more socially-connected than before.

Through these changes, which include a new, three-column view on the Bing search results page, users can easily get in touch with their friends over social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to receive more details on their queries.

The new Bing layout also includes a central column called Snapshot, which was designed to enable users to perform actions faster than before.

The overall search experience on Bing has been enhanced, and Microsoft is quite happy about it. In fact, the company has also announced the launch of a new promo campaign meant to celebrate the launch of the new Bing.

Called Bing Summer of Doing, the new campaign is launched in collaboration with DoSomething.org, the largest U.S. organization for teens and social change, and is meant to inspire people to give back to their communities.

“The alliance kicks off today in Los Angeles at Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), with additional community volunteer events planned throughout the summer in various cities across the nation, including Atlanta, New York and Chicago,” Microsoft announced.

HOLA offers free after-school programs in academics, arts and athletics to all interested young people. There, Bing will come up with various projects in collaboration with celebrities and volunteers.

“In addition, a national daily challenge called ‘The Hunt, 11 Days of Doing’, which is designed to drive action, will be hosted online by DoSomething.org later this summer,” the Redmond-based software giant notes.

The Hunt is expected to inspire people to take part of the 11 days of challenges aimed at creating a positive community impact.

The initiative will kick off on July 10th, and it will provide teens with new challenges each and every day. Each of these will be focused on a specific cause.

There will be teams created to work together to complete challenges, and which will have to report on the manner in which their work created impact on communities. They will also be able to collect points to win prizes.

Those users who would like to participate in local projects to help their communities can head over to http://www.bing.com/doing to learn more on the matter.
