Kyocera Corporation released a new phone model, the W53K, a 15.4 millimeters slim one-seg clamshell handset created to bring easy usability. The new phone is commercialized on KDDI's au network.

The Kyocera W53K was designed on the concept of the sleek W44K model, on of the thinnest WIN phones, launched with success back in 2006. The new mobile phone wants to bring the ease-of-use to another level and comes with one-touch dialing and single-shot one-seg activation. It has a 2.7 inch TFT wide QVGA display at a resolution of 240?400 pixels and a 2 megapixel CMOS camera with Auto Focus. Also, it has PC Website Viewer and microSD support for up to 2GB of extra memory, to store a lot of music, photos or videos. With a full battery, Kyocera W53K can provide more than 4 hours of talk-time and about 300 hours of stand-by time.

To enable one-seg and enjoy television reception on the wide liquid crystal display screen, users have to simply close the phone's body with the screen rotated. The phone allows one-seg program recording in an easy manner, by choosing the favorite content from a list.

Other features that Kyocera W53K comes with are an Information Key and versatile floating illumination. The simple and convenient Information Key is located in such way that it makes it easy to check the latest information or schedules anytime with just one touch. The versatile floating illumination feature enables information to float across a half-mirror, in an area specially designed for this. The eight-character illumination presents any incoming call, unread mail or info about the playing music.

The Kyocera W53K is available in Japan in three colors: Luminous Silver, Passionate Red and Champagne Pink and comes at a price of about $90.
