During an expedition that recently took place in the mountains of New Zealand's and that aimed at documenting the flora found in these secluded regions, botanists stumbled upon two very rare species of forget-me-nots.

Apparently, these mountains constitute a very welcoming natural habitat for these plants, as about 30 different species of forget-me-nots can be found thriving here. As experts put it, these mountains are a “hotspot” for flora diversity.

A very enthusiastic biologist explained how, “New Zealand forget-me-nots are far different from their blue flower relatives commonly found in people's gardens, and some native species have yellow, pink, or tube-like brown-bronze flowers. New Zealand is also home for the smallest forget-me-not in the world!”

Because these two new species recently discovered are highly uncommon, they are listed as critically endangered.
