The past week, Microsoft unveiled additional materials to the Windows Live Gallery. The website is dedicated to a collection of Microsoft products and online services with a focus on Windows Live Messenger and Windows Vista. On the heels of the Windows Live Gallery announcement, Microsoft has revealed a new website designed around Microsoft's instant messaging client.

In essence, the new Windows Live Messenger hotspot offers access to a collection of basic tips and tutorials to help users get started with the IM client. Users that are little familiar with Windows Live Messenger can learn, although it's pretty intuitive, how to add a contact, change status, set up Windows Live Messenger in order to get messages on a mobile device and send offline messages.

But it gets better. The website also offers guidance on how to personalize the IM client using backgrounds, display pictures and the personal status message. Windows Live Messenger users will also be able to get an insight on the connectivity capabilities of the client. The website offers tips on how to perform a PC to PC call, a PC to Phone or Mobile Phone call, a Video session, and how to send a SMS.

But besides essentially being an instant messaging tool, Windows live messenger also delivers the possibility to share folders and files with your friends. And the sharing feature does not stop at these two examples. In fact, Windows Live Messenger users can also share an entire activity, or indulge in a game while chatting, and even perform an online search.

The website additionally emphasizes the connection between Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail and promotes the "i'm" initiative. Windows Live Messenger users can also download a collection of free themes to spice up their favorite IM client.
