New Windows 10 for Phones Preview Build Now Available for Download

Microsoft has just rolled out the second preview build of Windows 10 for phones, thus providing insiders with the first release after 56 days of continuous teasing and news pointing to all kinds of features that would be included in this version.

The very first Windows 10 for phones preview was launched on February 12, but at that time, Redmond disappointed a big part of the Windows Phone community by limiting the new release to only a few devices, among which Lumia 730 and Lumia 830.

Fast forward nearly two months, and Microsoft completes development of a new technical preview for phones, which, fortunately, is available for many more devices than its predecessor.

Supported models

This new Windows 10 for phones preview build works on both low- and high-end models, including the Lumia 520 and the Lumia 1520, but contrary to what you’d expect, the Lumia 930 and the Lumia Icon still aren’t supported.

This is somewhat surprising, given the fact that Lumia 930 continues to be Microsoft’s 5-inch flagship, but the company said that this build was pretty unusable on this model, so it preferred to hold it back for a little bit longer to avoid shipping it with bugs.
