Called Walkman W274S, it looks like an earphone set you can take for a swim

Sony has just launched a product that will totally change your idea of what a walkman is, assuming you still think of cassette/CD-players when you hear the word.

Basically, the new walkman from Sony is actually something along the lines of a headphone set.

Actually, if not for the dials and somewhat larger headphones, it'd be easy to mistake it for a normal headset.

It isn't one though. It has 8 GB of built-in storage (2000 songs' worth if recorded at 128 kbps) and a tough enough exterior to survive juice spills and sweat.

In fact, Sony claims that the new Walkman W274S can be kept on while swimming. So long as you don't go deeper than 2 meters it should be fine.

Sales of the Sony Walkman W274S will begin in Europe this month, but no price is known.
