As I've been a guitar player for so many years now, it feels great to be able to present to you VOX's fresh additions to their small, pocket-sized guitar amplifiers, which go by the name of Amplug and which are bound to make players around the world very happy. The two new pieces come to fill in a gap that was left uncovered when the first Amplug models were launched: the lead section and the bass line. Now everything is in the right place and guitarists and bassists alike can have their personal amps with them all the time.

The Amplug concept was very much welcomed in the guitarist circles because it boasted features never seen before in a package so light, so small and so easy to use anywhere, at any time.

[admark=1]I myself bought the VOX Amplug Metal gadget and I was most suspicious until I plugged my axe in it for the very first time. I had listened online sound samples, but after so many years I learned not to trust them all the way.

Everything seemed most unfit for the bespoken sonic brutality and way too flimsy to be able to deliver something useful; yet here I am today, as glad as I'll ever be, for the $50 investment in the VOX Amplug really paid off. The sound is incredibly powerful and thick, with that tonal correctness that can be achieved only by a dedicated team working hard to deliver the true sound of your guitar and amp.

The VOX Amplug series is indeed a very small box with a guitar jack coming from it and boasting volume, gain and tone controls, with a handy on-off switch and even an AUX IN input to let you jam along with your CD or MP3 player. The initial line was comprised of three models: the AC30, Classic and Metal; these days you get the Lead and the Bass models, each with even more useful features meant to bring out the rock star in you.

The VOX Amplug Lead now sports a digital delay effect for added richness and is modeled on a boutique hi-gain amp tuned for leads. The Amplug Bass builds on the heritage of the legendary VOX AC 100 bas amp, but gets an additional compressor/boost feature that will allow you to catch up with today’s modern bass sound, in terms of overdrive and dynamics; and the FET buffer circuit ensures a solid sound that's true to life.

All Amplug models come in ultra-compact dimensions (3.39" x 3.15" x 1.22"/ 8.13 x 7.56 x 2.92 cm) and weight (1.41oz./32 grams, batteries not included) and offer up to 20 hours of battery life from dual AAA batteries, allowing you to jam at 3 AM at home, feeling as if you were live on Wembley yet with family never noticing anything. I did that and it really rocked!

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
