14 DAY TRIAL // The Enterprise Mobility Exchange taking place in the Netherlands is currently under way, so device manufacturer Panasonic has taken the opportunity to unveil a new version of its popular rugged Windows tablet solution, the Toughpad FZ-G1.
The new model aims to answer the growing needs of professionals activating in risky environments. With the latest version of the Toupad FZ-G1, Panasonic has added a 4th-gen Intel Core processor under the hood, in the form of a Core i5-4310U vPro, in order to boost performance and overall battery life.
According to the company, the tablet can now offer up to 8-10 hours of work time. For even more demanding users, the standard can be increased up to 20 hours with a high-capacity battery. Panasonic goes as far as boasting the new improved tablet can offer uninterrupted 24-hour operations.
Like any respectable rugged tablet, the Toughpad’s screen can now be operated by workers that need to wear gloves during their activities. Furthermore, the tablet is equipped the latest IPSα Panel technology that enables users to work outside without problem, thanks to its 800 cd/m² brightness.
The tablet has been equipped with Windows 8.1 Pro OS, but for those who prefer Windows 7 Professional, a downgrade can be performed as well.
The fully rugged Toughpad FZ-G1 Is MIL-STD-810G certified and has been awarded with IP65 ingress protection rating due to its capabilities of resistance against dust and water.
For those who need to snap photographs or record video, the FZ-G1 offers an HD 720p frontal webcam and a choice between a 5MP or 8MP for the rear camera with triple flash.
The improved Panasonic tablet makes use of Flexible Configurations Ports, coming equipped with USB 3.0, Bluetooth, HDMI and Wireless LAN capabilities. USB 2.0, micro SDXC, True Serial port, LAN connector, GPS, Barcode Reader are optional.
As some field workers need to stay in touch with the office, the FZ-G1 is equipped with a dual external antenna, so vehicle mounted devices can be connected to a roof antenna. Thus the system will provide a connection boost for those users activating in remote and cut off areas.
Last but not least, the device is equipped with the latest GPS standard, which allows users to navigate unknown environments more efficiently than ever before.
The new and improve Panasonic ToughPad FZ-G1 will be made available in Europe, starting June 2014 with an estimated price of £1,604 / $2,706 / €1,968.
