It seems that, now that most MWC 2011 announcements are over and done with, other companies are finally stepping into the spotlight and unveiling products of their own, like iiyama showed off a new display.

The thing about international trade shows is that many companies not involved in them put their own launches on hold, so as to avoid them getting overlooked in the flood of other product reveals.

Granted, this is not so big a problem in the case of expos that welcome a great variety of products, like CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and CeBIT, but MWC (Mobile World Congress) does focus on a much narrower segment.

That said, with all the new mobile phones and tablets coming out, not many products of other kinds have been launched over the past few days.

Now that things are finally settling down, however, the IT market is picking up where it left off, leading to such things as Sony unveiling new OLED monitors.

Now, iiyama has issued a press release in which it details a monitor of its own, one bearing a VA panel and the name of Prolite X2472HDS.

It is a Full HD product with a screen size of 24 inches, meaning that its native resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

The viewing angles are not to be frowned upon either, being of 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically.

Additionally, the panel has a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and a response time of 8ms, plus a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and multiple display ports (D-Sub, DVI and HDMI).

“The ProLite X2472HD. This new 24” display offers excellent color performance and amazing viewing angles combined with the Low Power LED Panel is an ideal choice for Universities, Corporate, Financial and Design markets,” says the press release.

Set to cost £199.99, it should start selling by the end of the month in the UK, with other European markets set to get it in March (215 Euro).
