Japanese company Kuroutoshikou uses a Renesas μPD720201 chipset

There are motherboards that still have no USB 3.0 ports, or just don't have enough of them, so Kurotoshikou decided to release the USB3.0R-P4-PCIe.

Powered by a Renesas μPD720201 chipset, it uses the PCI Express 2.0 x1 interface to power four USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports.

Only three of them are on the rear expansion bracket though, with the fourth on the inside (a type-A plug, not a header).

The reason for this is that Kuroutoshikou decided to keep this as a low profile card, something that a fourth port would not have allowed.

That said, energy is provided via a SATA power plug and it is likely that major companies will sell this item under their own brands once sales start.

Shipments will commence this month, for about 3,000 JPY, which translates into $36 / 27.25 Euro.
