TweetDeck 1.3 comes with some much requested features

As expected, Twitter has updated TweetDeck to add some of the recent features introduced with the "new new Twitter." The new TweetDeck also comes with a couple of features that have been missing for a while now.

One thing that's been a long time coming is List Management. While lists have been a fixture of Twitter for a few years, TweetDeck didn't support the feature, even though it was probably best suited for the advanced Twitter users that like TweetDeck.

With TweetDeck 1.3 that changes; you can create, edit and delete lists all from within the app. You'll also be able to add people to your existing lists from the user profile popups.

The new TweetDeck also adds a couple of columns that should be familiar to most Twitter users already, Activity and Interactions. Just like on the site and the mobile apps, the new columns aim to drive engagement with the site, but also provide an interesting new look at what's going on.

"A new Interactions column, available under the Add Column button, is like an enhanced Mentions column. It shows not only all of your mentions, but also alerts when you have been followed, added to a list, retweeted or favorited," Twitter wrote.

"Perhaps even more interesting is another new column type called Activity. This column shows a real-time feed of all the follow, favorite and add-to-list actions performed by the accounts that you follow," it added.

Another feature that should have been available sooner is media previews. You'll be able to view images and videos, inline without leaving the app, meaning you'll get through your incoming tweets faster. Apart from the small inline previews, you'll also be able to get a bigger view by simply clicking on the image or video.

The new TweetDeck is now available regardless of whether you use the Windows app, the Mac OS X one, the Chrome app or the web version.
