Not at all surprisingly, Acer has recently announced a number of new notebook computer systems that are based on the latest Intel Centrino 2 platform. Released as part of the company's TravelMate and Aspire series, the new laptops will provide Acer fans with the power of the latest Intel technology, which includes faster processors and better power requirements.

Acer released nine new models, four of which are part of the company's Aspire lineup. As most of the company's customers know, this series is designed mainly for the multimedia user. In the meanwhile, the five TravelMate notebooks have been built to meet the requirements of business users. Unfortunately, so far, Acer hasn't been too generous with details regarding the new additions, but some information is available.

Each of the four Aspire notebooks provides a different size display, ranging from 12.1-inch to a large 17-inch. The Aspire 2930 notebook has the smallest screen size among the four and uses Acer's Gemstone design. The next one is the 14.1-inch Aspire 4930, which integrates an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card for an enhanced visual experience. This model has been designed to also offer a high quality audio experience. Next up is the 5930, which boasts a 15.4-inch wide screen and NVIDIA's PureVideo HD technology for video acceleration. For this model, users can choose to add a Blu-ray optical drive. The last of the four features a 17-inch display and integrates a discreet graphics solution, as well as an option for a Blu-ray device.

The five TravelMate notebooks are also offered in different screen size models, ranging from 12.1-inch to 17-inch, with two of them boasting a 15.4-inch screen size. Both the 14.1-inch TravelMate 6493 and 15.4-inch TravelMate 6593 are WiMAX-ready notebooks, while the others will support the latest built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi standard. The company's new flagship model, the TravelMate 7730 boasts a 17-inch display size and will bring up to 4GB of RAM memory.

Acer didn't specify the release dates or the pricing for its latest models, but details should emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space.
