Setting new standards for Home Computing

One of the largest manufactures of all-in-one PCs is, without a trace of a doubt, Apple - and these days you can catch up with it and its latest endeavors at the World Wide Developers Conference held at Moscone Center in San Francisco. However, Apple is not the only player on the all-in-one PC market, since HP, Sony and Dell are also occupying a fair share of it. Given that this week is also about HP's Connecting Your World event, held in Berlin, perhaps we should also check out the Palo Alto-based company's new offer.

Recent reports indicate that HP has rolled out two new all-in-one PCs as part of its TouchSmart family of PCs. Dubbed the IQ504 and the IQ506 PC, these two products are expected to start selling at a price of $1,299 and $1,499, respectively. They are designed to provide an alternative computer product that also offers support as a touch product. What this translates to is that users can input data not only through their mouse or keyboards, but also with the help of their fingers.

"Our engineers have created a fun, engaging and simple touch experience for the home that nobody else offers today," said John Cook, vice president of marketing, Worldwide Consumer PC Business, HP. "We're changing personal computing from just feeds and speeds to an experience influenced by consumer trends and design that anticipates customer's needs. The HP TouchSmart PC is all about reinventing the personal computer experience." he explained.

The 22-inch PCs require only one cord and power to set up, which makes them more convenient than normal desktop computers. Built in the display, the system is powered by an energy-efficient Intel Core 2 Dup processor, which should provide the necessary computing power to allow users to benefit from a media-ready computer.

The new models provide roughly the same portability features as most notebook computers, the only difference being that they are designed to be used as desktop computers. Users looking to purchase one of these models will have to wait until July 13, when they are expected to hit retail outlets.
