Not so long ago, Toys R Us pulled the veil off its latest kiddie gadget, called the Tabeo e2 slate. In a world where children are fiddling with technology more than anything else, the company aims to bring a child-friendly tablet that can provide interactive browsing and safe content.

The Tabeo e2 comes coated in a protective case, so it can be handled by the smallest of children and is bundled with a host of educational apps and games. It runs Android 4.2 but allows access to Tabeo’s own App Store instead of the Google Play Store.

Specification-wise, the slate comes with a multi-touch 8-inch screen and a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The slate has 8GB of storage, but that can be extended to 64GB of additional storage if needed. HDMI, microSD, WiFI and Bluetooth are the additional features that come with the package.

Being a children’s slate, parents have absolute control over its content, being able to choose which websites their kid has access to.

Battery offers up to five hours of life, which is quite enough for a child.

Starting today, the slate is available in stores and online locations like the Toys R Us official shop, for the price of $150 / €110.
