I've seen quite a few types of converters in my time, but when it came to display adapters, most of them turned one video output interface into another.

Now, though, I've got something less ordinary to show you all, or rather TRENDnet does: a USB 3.0 to HDMI converter.

The converter is called TU3-HDMI and not only extends the viewing field form the PC to an HDTV, monitor, receiver or projector, but also transfers the OS controls to the connected HDMI device.

Up to six TU3-HDMI adapters can be used at once thanks to the included software, provided there are enough available USB ports. That allows the viewing field to be extended quite a bit, and makes for a good substitute to NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround and AMD Eyefinity.

"TRENDnet's TU3-HDMI combines the functionality of your computer with the visual impact of your big screen HD TV," stated Sonny Su, technology director for TRENDnet.

TRENDnet's TU3-HDMI adapter bears a price of $99.99 / €76.43 – 99.99.
