The big news of the Nintendo press conference and maybe the biggest of the current edition of the E3 is the reveal of the new Wii U home gaming consoles, the one that had been before previously rumored as being named Project Café.

[ADMARk=1]But Nintendo knows that the launch of new hardware is not just a matter of delivering computing power and spectacular changes, like the touch screen mounted in the controller, and that the video game launch line up is crucial to success.

A quick shot of Zelda, the franchise that celebrates 25 years of existence and will likely get a game on the Wii U soon, and a montage of a bird flying through a cherry blossom dominated Japanese atmosphere showed the power of the Wii U and Nintendo also managed to talk about a number of important titles that will be at home on its new device.

One of the big hits with the traditional Nintendo crowd will be New Super Mario Bros Mii, which, like the name suggests, is designed to use the same mechanics as previous titles in the series while allowing gamers to use their own virtual created characters in the battles along well known Nintendo game protagonists.

Another launch game is LEGO City Stories, which looks like an open world GTA kinda game with everything made up of bricks.

The big surprise is that Darksiders II, the THQ title featuring Death that will push the graphics on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, will arrive on the Wii U, as will the new Batman video game, another game that is graphics intensive.

Wii U owners will also be able to play the recently confirmed Aliens: Colonial Marines, Ghost Recon Online, Metro: Last Light and a new Tekken game.

Expect to see more announcements from Nintendo about the Wii U in the coming weeks.
