Audio Technica has released quite a few interesting noise-cancelling products over the past couple of years, and it seems that they're now back at it with a very interesting offering for this year's Christmas shopping period, namely a duo of headphones that provide some pretty interesting tech specs at a very affordable price point. The QuietPoint ATH-ANC27 over-ear and ATH-ANC25 on-ear models bring up to 85% active noise-cancellation (the former) and up to 80% active noise-cancellation (the latter), both featuring QuietPoint ANC technology that detects environmental noise and applies a corresponding sound-cancelling signal. Furthermore, the headphones incorporate high-efficiency drivers, ergonomically designed earpieces and are able to deliver clear sound with serious bass, richly detailed midrange and treble and precise imaging. The ATH-ANC27 comes with a 40 mm drivers and delivers a 20 – 20,000 Hz frequency response range, up to 18 dB active noise reduction, 500 mW maximum input power, 106 dB sensitivity and 33 ohms impedance. The ATH-ANC25, on the other hand, while also featuring 40 mm drivers and the same frequency response range, supports a maximum input power of around 100 mW, an input sensitivy of 100 dB and an impedance of around 20 ohms. Like all Audio-Technica QuietPoint models, the ATH-ANC27 and ATH-ANC25 will work very well with the Apple iPod, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, along with computers, in- light entertainment systems or virtually any device with a headphones jack. Both models have a detachable cord, enabling their use as cordless noise-cancelling headphones and will even work when their noise-cancelling function is turned off and operate in passive mode without batteries so listeners will never be caught without their favorite music. Both headphones are lightweight and built for comfort, with plush cushioned ear pads and an adjustable padded headband. The ATH-ANC27 comes with a durable hard-shell travel case, while the ATH-ANC25’s compact folding design fits into a lightweight pouch, both being supplied with a ¼-inch plug adapter, airline adapter and an AAA battery. As mentioned right from the start, these things are actually pretty affordable, selling for $99.95 (the ATH-ANC27) and for $79.95 (the ATH-ANC25), respectively.
