One of the world’s biggest photography fairs, Photokina is held yearly in Cologne, Germany. However, 2013 was an exception to the pattern and the event didn’t take place, but this year, we're going to see a comeback, as Photokina has already been scheduled for September.

Last year, without the familiar Photokina in sight, Sony chose the Photo Plus Expo in New York to taunt its brand new duo of 35mm full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras. But since Photokina is up again on the menu, new reports coming in suggest that Sony has been saving two new full-frame E-mount cameras to unveil at the event.

Sony Alpha Rumors reports via trusty sources that Sony is planning to launch the two new E-mount cameras in the next five, six months.

If you’re looking for details regarding the new gear, little is known at the moment about the two shooters. However, I can tell you that they are going to replace the A7 and A7R.

This in turn could mean that the two models are going to be either high-end, presumably called A8 and /or A9 or low-end, or one will be low-end and the other high-end.

What we know for sure is that the new full-frame Alphas will come sporting a more advanced hybrid autofocus system, something similar to the A6000. Stay tuned for more information about this topic.
