The music game genre is definitely on a high ascending trend, as sales have already overcome the sports ones, and it will probably be the most successful selling genre of this season. Titles like Guitar Hero, Rock Band or Wii Music will certainly move a lot of units, as people will surely want to play their favorite tracks this holiday season, but Lips, Microsoft's own karaoke game, might attract its fair share of customers.

The game, which lets you sing along your favorite songs, is an Xbox 360 exclusive, and it was launched worldwide a few days ago. It uses new wireless microphones which are motion sensitive and it allows players to sing even songs located on their Zune or iPod MP3 player. It also has quite a lot of game modes, including Vocal Fighters, which gives players the opportunity to test their skills against their friends.

Although it featured quite a hefty soundtrack, as we previously reported, the game has already received its first batch of DLC (Downloadable Content) consisting of quite a lot of new and popular songs, and today it will receive a new pack of tracks. These tunes are set to enrich the whole Lips karaoke experience and to offer players new opportunities to have fun.

The first DLC pack contained the following songs, as found on Videogamer: "Chasing Pavements" by Adele, "No Substitute Love" by Estelle, "The Remedy" by Jason Mraz and "Violet Hill" by Coldplay. The song pack that will appear today on the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace will contain these songs: "Give a Little Bit" by Supertramp, "All Star" by Smash Mouth and "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. All of them are reported to be priced from 160 MS Points and will guarantee players some very fun karaoke moments.

Also, because the holiday season is almost here, Microsoft has also announced that it will be releasing a DLC pack of Christmas songs, from artists like Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Gene Autry and many more, all starting with December 5. So all you would-be singers, keep your voices in shape and prepare to receive quite a lot of songs from Microsoft.
