New details about the first DLC for Skyrim have appeared on the web, as after owners of the PC game downloaded the latest patch, they found quite a lot of new files that might relate to the first expansion for the popular role-playing game.

Bethesda may keep silent about the first downloadable add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but this hasn’t stopped players from scouring any new patches for details about the content that will be included in the upcoming expansion.

This work paid off, as Bethesda forum member Karellan found some rather interesting details in the newest patch for the game’s PC version. These hint not just at new weapons, in the form of a crossbow, but also at some new dialog that could be the focus of the expansion’s story.

First up, the files relate to animations for a Snow Elf Prince and to a “RF”. What’s more, they also mention new animations for Vampire characters and for a brand-new weapon called the crossbow.

While actual details aren’t available, many hardcore Skyrim fans speculate that the DLC could focus on the Snow Elves, an ancient race of Elves who, after years of slavery under the Dwemer and after being fed poisonous fungus, transformed into the feral Falmer, which are present in great numbers in the regular Skyrim experience.

What’s more, the Snow Elf Prince is a famous folk hero who led his people in the Battle of Moesring against the Ysgramor. After the battle ended, the prince died and was buried somewhere in Solstheim, an island east of the Skyrim region.

A book about the adventure of the Prince can be found in the game, so it makes some sense that players might get to interact with him or at least his spirit through DLC.

Besides the Snow Elf Prince, the return of the crossbows, which haven’t been seen in Elder Scrolls games from the third installment, Morrowind, might introduce a brand-new element to the RPG, which currently forces players who want long-range attacks to rely just on regular bows.

Bear in mind that this is just speculation, as of yet, so take these details with a grain of salt until Bethesda says something official.
