Between October 27 and October 30, 2008, the Los Angeles Convention Center will house Microsoft's 2008 Professional Developers Conference. The website for PDC2008 is already up and running, with registrations given the green light since earlier this week. The Redmond company estimates that in excess of 5,000 developers from around the world will attend the event, as in order to experience the future of the Microsoft Platform. Via the website, Microsoft is offering visitors the chance to pimp either their blogs or their desktops with unique PDC2008 designs and wallpapers in anticipation of the conference.

"The PDC2008 website offers some goodies such as desktop wallpapers and blog bling. (...) Along with the goodies off the new PDC2008 site, you can also follow PDC2008 on Twitter and become a Fan of PDC on Facebook," revealed Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc. But of course that a few wallpapers are in no way the sole attraction to the PDC2008 website. In fact, early registrations will save participants no less than $200.

"Early bird registrations are now open for the 2008 Professional Developers Conference. PDC2008 is an event where the best developers gather to listen to Microsoft disclose details on its future platform. Register before August 15th, 2008 and take advantage of the Early Bird Special - a $200 discount off the registration price," LeBlac added.

And, in the end, the best reason to attend PDC2008 is the fact that Microsoft will share details about its upcoming Windows client. At this point in time, no less than four sessions on Windows 7 have been confirmed, focused on graphics advancements and DirectX, energy consumption optimization, touch computing and web services in native code. Still, the list made public so far by Microsoft is focused on just a few of the over 160 sessions that will be delivered at PDC2008, with a strong emphasis on its preliminary character.
