HP has announced the availability of HP Security Metrics Services, consulting services designed to help organizations in making quick decisions regarding the management of IT security risks.

Security threats and incidents can easily impact business objectives, which is why it’s important to be aware of the risks and know how to address them. This is exactly what HP Security Metrics Services does.

The benefits of the new service include improved accountability for security actions, reputation damage mitigation, better risk management, and regulatory compliance. It also helps executives understand how security risks impact operations, and it’s very useful for spending allocation and budget justification.

The solution leverages customers’ existing security data sources to determine if business objectives are at risk. Stakeholders are informed of the overall risk posture, and they’re pointed to the source of the identified risk. This enables them to take action before an incident takes place.

As recent studies have shown, visibility into key security data and alerts is critical to managing risks. However, many organizations are not capable of proactively addressing security risk before it’s too late. That’s mainly because, in many cases, companies still rely on intuition to know when they’re under attack.

“Security risks are getting harder for organizations to navigate, and point-solution defenses are no match for the adversaries,” noted Arthur Wong, senior vice president and general manager of enterprise security services at HP.

“By aligning information-security data with stakeholder business objectives, HP Security Metrics Services help transform organizations to a consistent, measurable and proactive security posture to make informed risk decisions and justify security spending,” Wong added.

HP Security Metrics Services is designed to help organizations identify risk indicators by leveraging a framework which links IT assets to 34 key risk components. When there are changes in the risk indicator, stakeholders are alerted and informed about the category that triggered the change.

An information dashboard allows them to determine the causes and address them before an incident occurs.

The solution leverages the HP Executive Scorecard to display information on critical business objectives in a user-friendly manner. The dashboard provides customers with security incident alerts prioritized by their risk status.

HP has over 3,000 security professionals and 8 security operations centers that work 24/7. The company’s analysts have on average 15 years of experience in the industry and they’re extensively credentialed.

HP Security Metrics Services is available immediately worldwide.
