While there are a myriad of external storage devices for PCs, Mac systems from Apple also find the need for such solutions, so Seagate delivered a whole collection of GoFlex units with two interfaces.

Since the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show is just about a day away, one cannot help but both eyes and ears peeled for any new products.

Granted, it is mostly impossible to surf the web without practically stumbling over news about a new hardware product or another.

One of the most recent products to be released, or product lines in this case, is the latest GoFlex series of external hard disks from Seagate.

Simply put, it is a set of storage units meant to communicate with Mac Systems, so they feature not just USB 2.0, but also the FireWire 800 interface.

There are four drives, one of which has the 3.5-inch form factor while the others are 2.5-inch drives.

The 3.5-inch GoFlex Desk for Mac has either 2 TB or 3 TB of storage, can be placed vertically or horizontally and has a price of $220 and $280, respectively.

The 2.5-inch GoFlex Pro for Mac is available with capacities of 500 GB and 750 GB, them selling for $150 and $180, respectively.

Furthermore, the GoFlex for Mac Limited Edition has a thickness of 12.5 mm but still manages to cram 1 TB of storage on the inside, its price being of $200.

Finally, the GoFlex for Mac ultra-portable has two capacity options, one selling for $200 (1 TB) and the other for $250 (1.5 TB).

“With over 10 billion songs downloaded from the iTunes store and Apple’s market share continuing to grow year-over-year, the growing audience for Mac OS X will need external storage to backup all their digital content,” said Darcy Clarkson, vice president of Global Retail Sales and Marketing for Seagate.

“Today’s product introduction addresses these current market trends and underscores Seagate’s commitment to delivering flexible, easy-to-use solutions that meet varying customer needs.”

All drives are HFS+ formatted, for compatibility with Apple's Time Machine, and come backed by a three-year warranty.
